At first I was taken aback.  I physically pulled back from the computer, my back straightened, chin tucked in, eyebrows furrowed.  That’s my book.  You know the one that I will write…someday.  It’s been done.  When I was beginning this blog, the very subject was being placed on book store shelves.

Once I tilted my head and looked at it a bit differently, a another kind of ‘Oh”, surfaced.  “It’s been done.  The burden I feel for women suffering with ‘weighty issues” already have a book, a place, to go to.  From someone much more qualified than me.  Someone who has lived it over and over and scoured the Bible from start to finish for answers.  And found many.  And found conviction not condemnation.

I have yet to receive my copy but I already recommend it based on the discussion I listened to on Focus on the Family .  Lysa TerKeurst, President of Proverbs 31 Ministry, spoke about Made to Crave; Satisfying Your Deepest Desire With God, Not Food.  She lived the yo-yo dieting life that finally came to a head when her doctor labeled her obese.  She wasn’t large, she described, but unhealthy.  She sought answers from her Maker.  She did not experience a miracle.  She experienced a journey that was lead and supported.  And it worked.  With peace as her goal, food no longer controls her.

Lysa had help from a Nutritionist* for accountability.  How could I not chuckle when she described how she ate a whole pizza on the way to her first nutrition appointment assuming it would be her last chance?  And she licked the plate.  Every last morsel consumed to savour.  It makes me wonder how many pizzas have been eaten before appointments with me!

If you would like to meet Lysa you can view her in a YouTube video here.  This is actually an excerpt of the Focus on the Family broadcast.  You can also print a few eating tips excerpted from her book here.

So with ‘the book’ checked off the list, I am excited to explore more, write more and continue my journey of stretching, reaching and humbling, letting you have the sneak peek.

For I know the plans that I have for you, plans to prosper you, to give you hope and a future.

Hugs and blessings,

*The title, Nutritionist, is not always a legally protected title as is Registered Dietitian.  In Ontario, Canada, anyone can label themselves as Nutritionist.
